The €10,000 Curry – it’s all for Nepal

The €10,000 euro curry: it’s all for Nepal

Fancy winning dinner for two and overnight accommodation at Neven Maguire’s acclaimed MacNean House and Bistro in Blacklion, Co Cavan, eating some superb food, and raising money for the earthquake relief effort in Nepal?

Then head for Smock Alley Theatre in the heart of Temple Bar in Dublin on May 24 for a night of curry, drinks and dancing being organised by three chefs.

The informal dinner is open to 100 guests and is priced at €100 per ticket, with the aim of sending at least €10,000 to Nepal through the charity Touch Ireland.

On the night, guests will sit at one of three long tables. Each table will receive a different starter prepared by the three chefs who are organising the event: Kevin O’Toole of The Chameleon in Dublin will cook an Indonesian starter, Shamzuri Hanifa of The Cottage in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim will prepare one from his home country of Malaysia, while Lina Dhakal Gautam of Monty’s of Kathmandu in Dublin will cook a Nepalese starter.

For the main course, each table will receive three large pots of curry — one Indonesian, one Malaysian and one Nepalese — plus accompaniments and wonderful wines, followed by dessert.

“All of the chefs are working for free, all the ingredients are being donated by our suppliers, and all the wines are being carefully selected and being offered for free,” said Kevin O’Toole of The Chameleon.

“We have had fantastic support from Smock Alley, which is providing the venue for free, and we even have a DJ who will be working for free on the night — so expect some dancing after dinner! We are also thrilled with the support we have been given in the form of raffle prizes.”

Those raffle prizes will include:

*dinner for two and overnight accommodation in MacNean Bistro, Blacklion, Co Cavan
*a five course tasting menu for two at the acclaimed James St South restaurant in Belfast
*a state-of-the-art Microsoft Lumia phone
* a bottle of Power’s Special Reserve whiskey
