Jackford Irish Potato Gin awarded Gold Medal at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2018

Stafford Irish Spirits were awarded a Gold Medal for Jackford Irish Potato Gin at the 2018 Irish Whiskey Awards. This is the first industry award for Jackford, the first premium distilled spirit from Stafford Irish Spirits which launched to the market in early summer 2018.

Each year the drinks industry of Ireland gathers at the Irish Whiskey Awards to celebrate the Irish Drinks industry. These prestigious awards, which are now in their sixth year, span over 20 categories and were judged in blind tasting sessions by members of the Celtic Whiskey Club, Irish Whiskey Society and Cork Whiskey Society. This year also welcomed the participation of the Galway Whiskey Trail and Kilkenny Whiskey Guild. Overseas members of the Celtic Whiskey Club also had the opportunity to purchase sample packs without having to travel to the Emerald Isle.

Owner John Stafford was thrilled with the accolade for his Jackford Irish Potato Gin. Having invested greatly in researching and developing the unique recipe behind Jackford, preproduction blind tastings were arranged involving industry experts to ensure the end product would become a market leader. He felt the key to entering the gin market was to produce a quality, distinctive gin using his Wexford potatoes from Slaney Farm Produce Ltd as a key ingredient along with a secret mix of plantae and botanicals.

It has been a busy few months since the launch of Jackford for the Stafford Irish Spirits team who have expanded to nationwide distribution of their gin from an initial local launch.  In recent weeks the team have agreed distribution in Northern Ireland and the UK.
