Restaurant Scam – Credit Card – Members Alert
Notice – Restaurant Scam
Dear Member,
It has been brought to our attention that a scam to get credit card details from establishments is underway.
A company claiming to be the Trademark Office are ringing establishments claiming that your business name is being ‘patented’ or your domain name if .ie is being registered by another person as .com .org and you need to pay the Trademark office in order to stop the other individual.
They are saying that you pay a fee for a 10 year licence and are requesting credit card details. It is either a lady called Rebecca or a man called Brad saying they are calling from the Trademark Office, whose office is based in Dublin but they work in the Amsterdam office.
Please note: There is NO such thing as the Trademark office in Ireland.
It is known as the Irish Patents Office who have also released details on the scam on their website
Please do not give your credit card details to anyone over the phone or e-mail. If you are unsure, please always call the RAI office on 01-6779901 or
